The buildings fronting the road are grade II*(star) listed, although only the central part is of any great age, the rest are mostly 1950s additions in a similar style.

West Street, Marlow
The view is south-west, away from the town centre and towards Medmenham and Henley.
One of the white-painted Georgian cottages was occupied for a while (probably in 1817) by the poet, Shelley, and his second wife, Mary. Beyond the cottages, the flint and red-brick building is a school.
Photo taken from outside the substantial Georgian house known as Remnantz.

The wording is as follows:
THIS TABLET WAS PLACED A.D. 1867
AT THE INSTANCE OF
WILLIAM ROBERT CLAYTON BART.
TO PERPETUATE THE RECORD THAT
PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY
LIVED AND WROTE IN THIS HOUSE
AND WAS HERE VISITED BY
LORD BYRON
He is gone, where all things wise and fair
Descend; oh, dream not that the amorous Deep
Will yet restore him to the vital air;
Death feeds on his mute voice, and laughs at our despair

Georgian cottages with Gothick details, West Street, Marlow
I had first spotted these cottages when passing by a few weeks earlier, was intrigued by the Gothick windows, and resolved to come back for a better look. When I eventually did so I noticed a plaque - perched high up on the parapet - which commemorates the fact that the poet Shelley once lived here.
These days there are four dwellings, but it seems that in Shelley's day there was just the one address - 'Albion House' - later sub-divided: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-412752-albion-house-shelley-cottage-shelley-hou
