Ringstones Farm
The name probably suggests a nearby stone circle, no longer extant. Viewed from the west, from the farm drive.

Footpath from Gunn Road to Ringstones Farm
The road I am standing on is named Gun Road on the OS map, a continuation of Shiloh Road. There is a sign at the point where the roads change name, on which the road is entitled Gunn Road. Further along said Gun(n) Road, there is a Pistol Farm; its nearest neighbour is Gun Farm. Lawless country indeed. Both Pistol Farm and Gun Farm take their names from the fact that the Duke of Norfolk owned the land in the 19th century and had a Gun Lodge on the site.

The Inns at Rowarth
A 17th-century former coaching inn, in 1926 this building was named The Children's Inn and was used to provide country holidays for children from Manchester; in 1933 the complex was taken over by the Guide Association, who now run it as an Outdoor Activities Centre. See http://www.theinnsatrowarth.org.uk . The Mass Trespass on Kinder Scout (see Image) was planned here at Easter 1932.
