Lumn Road
On the far right are traditional terraced housing. On the near right are modern housing association (previously council house) rented properties. On the left is an estate of private houses on the site of the former James North Factory aka Slack Mill.

Penny Meadow 1877
A row of terraced houses on Lumn Road. An archway gives access to the rear of the properties. Nowadays it is mainly used for storing wheelie-bins.

Smithy Lane
One-way street leading from Market Street/Stockport Road to Lumn Road. On the left is the former Blue Window Club Image The site of the original smithy is now a carpark for the Ring o' Bells pub. On the right are houses built on the site of Slack Mill, the former James North factory. The clock from the factory is now in the centre of the roundabout at the end. In the background is Hyde Little Theatre.

Blue Window Club
The building at the corner of Lumn Road and Smithy Lane was known as the Blue Window Club. Its official name was the Werneth Unionist Working Men's Club. It closed in the late 1980s but re-opened briefly in the 1990s as the "Irish Club". http://hydonian.blogspot.co.uk/2010/09/blue-window-club.html

The end of Market Street
At what came to be known as the Ring o' Bells roundabout Image the B6468 changes its name from Market Street to Stockport Road. The roundabout was built in 2006 to accommodate the clock tower which used to be inside the James North factory on the left. The factory was closed in 1998 and subsequently demolished. An estate of houses was built on the site. On the right, the "Lynks" mortgage advice shop was formerly Stockport Road Post Office (although now on Market Street - it had previously been located in Stockport Road just beyond the Ring o' Bells). The pub Image at the beginning of Stockport Road recently closed.

James North Clock and Ring o' Bells
The B6468 through Gee Cross used to just bend right at its junction with Smithy Lane. In 2006 a roundabout was built to accommodate the James North Clock which had previously stood in the grounds of the Slack Mill which had closed in 1998 and subsequently demolished. The Ring o' Bells Image pub in the background has recently closed and is now boarded up.
