Up + Running
The sports shop on Market Street was originally owned and run by Ron Hill who was the first ever Britain to win the Boston Marathon, which he did in 2hrs 10mins 30secs in 1970. He also struck gold at the Commonwealth Games recording a time of 2hrs 9mins 28secs.
The launderette next door runs a "stop and drop" service, otherwise known as a "service wash".
On the other side is a takeaway called "Royal".

Ron Hill's former sports shop gone
The sports shop between the launderette and Zaynab's was originally called "Up + Running" Image and had been previously owned by renowned local athlete Ron Hill. It later became the "Sweatshop" Image but closed down recently Image and now all the old signage has been removed.

No Mirrors No Lycra No Men
So it says at the newly opened ladies only fitness and toning salon on the corner of Market Street and Edna Street. They've moved from their original site at the former Crown Inn Image These premises were previously a bathroom showroom. The chinese takeaway next door was formerly called "Dragon Village" but now is called "Yummy Yummy".

Zaynab's and Sweatshop
Zaynab's Indian takeaway on Market Street was previously known as the "Royal Tandoori". These days it has an online ordering service.
The "Sweatshop" next door used to belong to veteran Hyde athlete Ron Hill but he sold the business some years ago.

Run North West Closing Down
The sports shop between the launderette and Zaynab's was originally called "Up + Running" Image and had been previously owned by renowned local athlete Ron Hill. It later became the "Sweatshop" Image but closed down in 2017 Image and before long all the old signage had been removed Image In 2018 it re-opened as Run North West who have another shop in Wilmslow. Now it is finally closing as the company is to concentrate on its site in Wilmslow.

Originally the Church Inn - Image - it changed its name to Tylers - Image - now it is closed and up for auction.

Adnan's Indian Restaurant and Take Away
Adnan's opened in July 2014 in the premises formerly occupied by the Passage to India Image which closed in 2013. On the left is Highlights Hair Design. The shop on the right which used to house the "Just Help Foundation" Image is now to let again.

Route 66
Originally the Church Inn Image it became Tyler's Image in 2006. It closed in 2008 Image re-opening later as Route 66 Image It closed again within a year. It was recently sold at auction and now a notice on the shutters Image warns that work is in progress and entry to the building is dangerous.
