The sports shop on Market Street was originally owned and run by Ron Hill who was the first ever Britain to win the Boston Marathon, which he did in 2hrs 10mins 30secs in 1970. He also struck gold at the Commonwealth Games recording a time of 2hrs 9mins 28secs. The launderette next door runs a "stop and drop" service, otherwise known as a "service wash". On the other side is a takeaway called "Royal".
