The Unity
The Unity Inn is a locally listed building. An early 19th century public house with an engaging well-designed front of circa 1888, it is characterised by finely carved stone detailing and terracotta. The pub is said to have been named for the Oddfellows Hall which stood nearby. It was first recorded in 1858, and refronted in the late 1880s. Brick with stone dressings, slate roof. Symmetrical frontage, two storeys. Central entrance with a pedimental top with carved foliage in the tympanum, paired colonettes with foliated caps on each side. This is flanked by windows with wide segmental heads. Paired upper windows on each side share a stone lintel and are divided by a brick pier with a foliated stone cap. Above is a decorative red terracotta frieze. A central shaped gable has a ball finial and carving in red sandstone within it with the words "Unity Inn" and a vase with flowers.

Cleaner Greener Artwork
Artwork on abandoned shops on Wellington Road South. An attached notice informs "This artwork has been commissioned by Stockport Council to enhance the shop fronts that were covered in fly posters and graffiti. The concepts and ideas have been generated by artists working with the children from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School and young people from the Avondale School group based at Adswood Youth Centre. Artists Jo Foley and Fiona Smith have used these concepts to create the final art pieces on display."

On the left is the former Unity Inn Image An early 19th century public house with an engaging well-designed front of circa 1888, it is characterised by finely carved stone detailing and terracotta. The pub is said to have been named for the Oddfellows Hall which stood nearby. It was first recorded in 1858, and refronted in the late 1880s. It was a Robinsons pub but closed in 2013. ##43-45 were at one time covered by artwork Image but have recently been renovated. Alfred Newton http://www.alfrednewton.com/ solicitors, who have been established at #49 Wellington Road South since 1933, have now expanded to take in ##43-47.
