On the left is the former Unity Inn Image An early 19th century public house with an engaging well-designed front of circa 1888, it is characterised by finely carved stone detailing and terracotta. The pub is said to have been named for the Oddfellows Hall which stood nearby. It was first recorded in 1858, and refronted in the late 1880s. It was a Robinsons pub but closed in 2013. ##43-45 were at one time covered by artwork Image but have recently been renovated. Alfred Newton http://www.alfrednewton.com/ solicitors, who have been established at #49 Wellington Road South since 1933, have now expanded to take in ##43-47.
