Chaseside Fordson Major
Seen at Mansells farm countryside show, this is a Fordson Major that has been converted by Chaseside who were agricultural engineers who went on to develop a range of loading shovels, eventually taken over by JCB. This machine has a 6 cylinder Ford industrial engine so some modifications including extending the bonnet and chassis rails and turning the front axle round to accommodate the bigger sump.

Doe Dual Drive 130
The Doe 130 on show at the Codicote Steam and Country Show. The 130 was the last throw of the Doe conversion. Other manufacturers were making standard tractors with bigger engines and refined four wheel drive systems. This one utilises two Ford 5000 skid units and is coupled together with the Doe system.

Portaloo's at Mansells Farm Vintage Steam Rally
An annual gathering of Classic and steam powered machinery at Mansells farm near Codicote takes place in early June. The toilets are for "public convenience" A Merryweather fire appliance and a Diamond T Military truck form the background.

A Marshall of Gainsborough steam engine driving a threshing drum and chaff cutter in this farm yard recreation. Sometimes we overlook how important canvas belt manufacturers were to industrial and agricultural machines relying on this form of power transfer before the advent of quality shaft and chain drives.

Trantor, Mansells Farm near Codicote
A 1970's attempt at a high speed tractor, several units were made but production ceased in the mid 1980's. The concept fired JCB to develop the Fastrac and that's a real success story. This machine was displayed at the Codicote Steam and Country Show.
