Much Hadham Hall, Much Hadham
A most distinguished early Georgian house, all very neatly disposed, with red brick and stone dressings and a central Venetian window. Built 1726-29 for the Reverend William Stanley, possibly to the designs of John James. Grade I listed.
Visible in front is part of the fine wrought-iron overthrow. Grade II listed.
The date of the photo is uncertain.

Houses in the High Street, Much Hadham (2)
The ground floor of the timber-framed building nearest the camera is made up of old shop fronts - the middle one having a neat Georgian bay-window, while those flanking it are simpler (and probably older) with shutters. The next property along must surely be timber-framed, too - which accounts for the irregularity of its 18th century brick front.

Houses in the High Street, Much Hadham (1)
View north from near the village hall. The house in the foreground, with Georgian Gothick windows, is known - reasonably enough - as the White House. Photo taken in failing light on a showery June evening.
