The Church of St Nicholas, Deptford Green
There has been a church on this site since the period of the Norman conquest and parts of the present church date from the 14th century. In October 1940, incendiary bombs fell on the church.

Entrance door on the west side of the tower of St. Nicholas' Church, Deptford Green, SE8

The tower of St. Nicholas' Church, Deptford Green, SE8
The buttressed portion of the tower is the oldest part of the church, probably dating from the 14th C. The topmost portion, from the louvred belfry openings upwards, had to be rebuilt after a violent storm weakened the tower in 1901. {Source: Leaflet "St Nicholas' Church, Deptford Green".}
