Barrier Animal Care Clinic, Charlton
Originally a public house known as The Lads of the Village, it changed its name to the Thames Barrier Arms in honour of the nearby Thames Barrier. As can be hinted by the photograph though, although the Green Chain Walk passes it, the surroundings are mostly industrial estates, and the Thames Barrier Arms closed down. The name and what was served still clearly show on the facade but it is now the Barrier Animal Care Clinic.

Mirfield Street
The area between Woolwich Road and the river has an aura of the land that time forgot. Populated with scrap metal merchants, car repair yards, and defunct vehicles gathering dust, often on the pavement, it has the rare quality of still looking like a plausible location for The Sweeney from the 1970s.

Missing sculpture?
The sign says that the sculpture is under recorded video surveillance to prevent damage. What sculpture? Did the video record its disappearance?

Barrier Animal Care Clinic
The exterior of this vet's practice had been given a makeover since a previous photo Image, losing some of its previous identity as a pub in the process (although the words "noted stout house" remain).

Former pub, Eastmoor Place
Once a "noted stout house", the erstwhile Thames Barrier Arms (and before that the Lads of the Village) was an early casualty in the pub wars, closing in 1997. The building is currently home to the Barrier Animal Care Clinic.
