Originally a public house known as The Lads of the Village, it changed its name to the Thames Barrier Arms in honour of the nearby Thames Barrier. As can be hinted by the photograph though, although the Green Chain Walk passes it, the surroundings are mostly industrial estates, and the Thames Barrier Arms closed down. The name and what was served still clearly show on the facade but it is now the Barrier Animal Care Clinic.
