South end of St John's church
This Grade II church at the corner of St John's Vale and Lewisham Way has a very tall spire and is surrounded by trees, so difficult to photograph in its entirety. Here is the south ('back') end of the church with three new small windows inserted below the original main window when the church was reordered in the 1970's.

Former Welsh Presbyterian Church, Lewisham
I was alerted by the estate agent's board saying "Church and vicarage for sale" as I was quite sure that the nearby St John's church
Image was not for sale. It turns out that this property on Lewisham Way adjacent to St John's vicarage is the former Welsh Presbyterian Church, which at the time of the photo was indeed up for sale with planning permission for building additional houses on the site. IF they had used the term "Manse" rather than "Vicarage" it would have been more correct and less confusing.

West window of St John's church, Deptford
The window tracery is in the Decorated style, but the glass and design are firmly late Victorian.

Peal stone in St John's church, Deptford
Wooden peal boards in churches are quite common; stone monuments commemorating a peal are rarer. But the occasion for this peal of Grandsire Triples one was for the funeral of Queen Victoria in 1901, which presumably merited the expense.
