View towards New Cross Gate and London from the Endwell Road bridge, climbing up the steep climb from New Cross Gate is the 18.30 from London Bridge, still in those days headed by an ex-LB&SCR Marsh class I3 4-4-2T, No. S2025 (later to be 32025), built as No. 25 in 3/1909, becoming No. 2025 after Grouping and surviving only until 1/50. Site of Brockley Lane Station at Brockley Cross
View southward; Nunhead (right) - Lewisham (left) Loop line (since 7/7/29). Brockley Lane station was on the Nunhead - Greenwich Park branch of the South Eastern & Chatham line and was closed to passengers with the branch service on 1/1/17, but the Goods station (slightly to the west) remained until 4/5/70. The Nunhead - Lewisham section of the line was renovated in 1929, to provide a route, principally for freight traffic for Hither Green from Blackfriars Bridge, which by-passed London Bridge. The photograph is at the junction of Geoffrey Road and Brockley Road.
