Greenwich Cemetery, Eltham, SE9
This pictures was taken from a point several hundred yards along one of the arterial roads near to the entrance to the cemetery on Well Hall Road. Mayday Gardens - a residential street - is situated behind the tree line on the right and a 10 minute walk straight ahead leads to Langbrook Road (although no entrance/exit exists into the latter). It is one of the largest cemeteries in London being of 9.5 hectares in size (i.e. approx 24 acres) and as this picture reveals, a considerable amount of spare capacity remains available.

Greenwich Cemetery, Eltham SE9
With the south-western boundary hedge and tree-line 50 metres or so behind the photographer this is a view towards the main entrance on Well Hall Road (with the roof of the 1930s lodge just visible) and an 'unchristened and anonymously numbered' block of flats on the same road. Presumably this sea of low Victorian-era headstones reflect the more 'challenged' financial state of the family members who ordered them?

Grave of Nicolas Ogareff in Greenwich Cemetery
Greenwich Cemetery was founded 1856 by Greenwich Burial Board on a hilly site, with an entrance in Well Hall Road. At the top of the hill are the Commonwealth War Graves and the Heroes Corner and War Memorial. The panoramic views are the finest from any cemetery in London and are some of the best anywhere in London. This is next to the path near the entrance. It is to Nicolas, Russian, poet, historian and political activist who died on 12th June 1877 aged 63, but was exhumed, cremated and returned in honour to his native Russia where he was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novodevichy_Cemetery
