Is this the best view in London?
Having been to most of the famous viewpoints in Greater London, I feel the little-known view from Dawson's Hill in East Dulwich seen here beats them all, mainly because of the unobstructed nature and wide range of the panorama. My other main contenders would be Alexandra Palace, Norwood Grove, Primrose Hill, Addington Hills, The Point on Blackheath, Pollards Hill and Havering-atte-Bower by the water tower. Although good, none of them in my opinion quite match up. In this photograph, the O2 is on the extreme right whilst The Shard (still under construction when the picture was taken) towers over the other blocks in the City of London. To its left are the hills of Highgate and Hampstead on the skyline. The Wembley Arch and Harrow-on-the-Hill can usually be seen further round to the left and on exceptionally clear days Windsor Castle can be seen.

Dawson's Hill, SE22
A path on Dawson's Hill. Dawson's Hill has good views northwards towards Central London. In this image, the Swiss Re building (also known as "the gherkin") and Tower 42 (formerly the NatWest Tower) are both visible whilst "The Shard", which will be the tallest building in the European Union, is under construction. Just visible on the left of the image is the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral.

Dawson's Hill, SE22
Dawson's Hill is on a ridge in South London. On a clear day, it has good views over London. In this image, the four white chimneys of Battersea Power station are clearly visible. Also just visible on the skyline, a bit to the right of the chimneys, is the Wembley Arch, nearly 20 km from Dawson's Hill.
