View from Dawson's Hill
Having been to most of the famous viewpoints in Greater London, I feel the little-known view from Dawson's Hill in East Dulwich seen here is one of the best of them all, mainly because of the unobstructed nature and wide range of the panorama. My other main contenders would be Alexandra Palace, Norwood Grove, Primrose Hill, Addington Hills, The Point on Blackheath, Pollards Hill and Havering-atte-Bower by the water tower. Although good, none of them in my opinion quite match up. In this photograph, the hills of Highgate and Hampstead are on the right skyline beyond the British Telecom Tower, whilst on the far left skyline is Harrow-on-the-Hill beyond the chimneys of Battersea Power Station. On exceptionally clear days Windsor Castle can be seen. For more information about Dawson’s Hill see http://www.dawsonshill.org.uk/

Dulwich: Two for the price of one
Just squeezing into this gridsquare at its extreme northeast corner, there are two churches in this photograph. The nearest one is shared by the United Reformed Church and the Methodists: The one further away, with the spire, used to be a church but is now in commercial use as Barry House.

Dawson's Hill and its view
Having been to most of the famous viewpoints in Greater London, I feel the little-known view from Dawson's Hill in East Dulwich seen here is one of the best of them all, mainly because of the unobstructed nature and wide range of the panorama. My other main contenders would be Alexandra Palace, Norwood Grove, Primrose Hill, Addington Hills, The Point on Blackheath, Pollards Hill and Havering-atte-Bower by the water tower. Although good, none of them in my opinion quite match up. In this photograph, the hills of Highgate and Hampstead are towards the right beyond the British Telecom Tower, whilst to the right of these is The Shard (still under construction at this time) and the other towers in the City. On the far left skyline is Harrow-on-the-Hill beyond the chimneys of Battersea Power Station. On exceptionally clear days Windsor Castle can be seen. Is this the best view in London?
Having been to most of the famous viewpoints in Greater London, I feel the little-known view from Dawson's Hill in East Dulwich seen here beats them all, mainly because of the unobstructed nature and wide range of the panorama. My other main contenders would be Alexandra Palace, Norwood Grove, Primrose Hill, Addington Hills, The Point on Blackheath, Pollards Hill and Havering-atte-Bower by the water tower. Although good, none of them in my opinion quite match up. In this photograph, the O2 is on the extreme right whilst The Shard (still under construction when the picture was taken) towers over the other blocks in the City of London. To its left are the hills of Highgate and Hampstead on the skyline. The Wembley Arch and Harrow-on-the-Hill can usually be seen further round to the left and on exceptionally clear days Windsor Castle can be seen. The view from Dawson's Hill
Although the view does not look quite as clear as the photograph taken over five years before it was possible to see Windsor Castle through binoculars. Here The Shard is most prominent with the towers of the City of London to the right. St Paul's Cathedral is in the centre of the photograph.
