Norwood Society "blue plaque", Westow Street SE19
In June 2017 many shops in the Crystal Palace triangle acquired stickers in their window like this: mock "blue plaques" from the Norwood Society describing a business that had previously traded there.

In this case, a ghost-sign on the side of the building also speaks of its past as a draper's shop (see

Norwood Society had the natty idea, which I haven't seen anywhere else, of placing blue signs in shops in the Crystal Palace 'Triangle' showing significant historic occupants. There are more than a hundred.
This one, in the window of what is now a Nepalese restaurant, Gurkha Cottage, records an impressively long presence: "James Jackson / Draper traded here / 1905-1979".

Enormous carrot advertises Crystal Palace Food Market
At the top of Haynes Lane, a person in a carrot suit advertises the Food Market taking place down the lane. So far as I can tell from local publicity, the person in the suit is one of the market's organisers, rather than some unfortunate school-leaver on a minimum wage. Crystal Palace Food Market is a Saturday market of various organic and artisan foods, taking place where Haynes Lane meets Bedwardine Road. The buildings on the right are part of a complex of which the major part is the Sainsbury's on Westow Street.

Westow Street, SE19, January 2000
At this time the three roads of the Upper Norwood triangle were all two-way: the triangle turned into a one-way system two or three years after this.
