Gatepiers to Rockhills
Gatepiers to Rockhills on Westwood Hill. Rockhills was the home of Sir Joseph Paxton, the designer of the Crystal Palace, lived from 1852-65, with a later resident being Sir Henry Buckland, general manager of the Palace, from 1922-56. The house was demolished in 1969. The gatepiers are Grade II listed - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1376636?section=official-list-entry.

Located beside the roundabout at the junction of Sydenham Hill (on the left) and Westwood Hill (on the right). It looks like some German tourists were staying at the hotel - the coach on the right belongs to Reisebüro Pflieger from the Böblingen area.

Aka Sunnydene. Built in 1868-70 to the designs of John Francis Bentley (who did Westminster Cathedral) for W.R. Sutton who founded the eponymous housing trust. Grade II listed.
