Woolwich Town Hall is the seat of Greenwich Council, and the centenary of its opening was celebrated in January 2006. This is the Wellington Street frontage.

Former public house, Woolwich
Formerly known as the "Evening Star". The short length of road to the left of the pub is part of the original John Wilson Street, rebuilt as a dual carriageway just to the west (left of picture) to take traffic to the Woolwich Free Ferry round the town centre rather than through it.

Woolwich Town Hall - Mayor's balcony

Town Hall, Wellington Street
In the prevalent style for public buildings of the time, 1903-06, Edwardian Baroque, with "plenty of broken segmental pediments", columns, round windows, a dome and the unmissable tower. Red brick and Portland stone for the dressings. The architect was Alfred Brumwell Thomas. Grade II* listed. Built for the Borough of Woolwich, it now serves as the town hall for the London (now Royal) Borough of Greenwich.

Woolwich Town Hall
Built 1902-6 for the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich, to the designs of [Sir] Alfred Brumwell Thomas. Now the town hall for the whole of Greenwich Royal Borough. Listed grade 2* (list entry number 1289668) as "one of the finest of Edwardian town halls".
