Walworth Clinic was a pioneering borough health centre, opened in 1937. The inscription over the door reads: THE HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE IS THE HIGHEST LAW, translated from Cicero's De legibus: "Salus populi suprema est lex". Judging by the signs at the door the clinic deals with a more limited range of health issues than the original: Foot Health Clinic; Health Visiting Service; School Health Service; Reproductive and Sexual Health Clinic.
