Walworth Clinic was a pioneering borough health centre, opened in 1937. The inscription over the door reads: THE HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE IS THE HIGHEST LAW, translated from Cicero's De legibus: "Salus populi suprema est lex". The date 1937 appears above the top window. The whole is surmounted by a sculpture of a mother and three children.
