Busy Heygate Street divided the north and south parts of Southwark Council's 1970s Heygate estate, recently demolished and being redeveloped. Rotherhithe Town Hall statues
These stood either side of the main entrance of Rotherhithe Town Hall in Lower Road junction with Neptune Street, SE16 from 28-04-1897 to about the late 1980's, when they were removed and erected in the Heygate Estate, Walworth, SE17. The town hall opened 28-04-1897, was partially destroyed by a VI on 13-08-1944 and totally destroyed by another on 14-11-1944
