Basketball practice area, Masters Drive
The photo is from the vertex of a triangular area of all-weather surface, fenced all round and with netting above. There is just one hoop at the 'broad' end of the triangle, so it can only be used for practice, not a match.

Catlin Street cycle crossing
In April 2013, improvements were made to London Cycle Network route 2 in the South Bermondsey area, including moving the crossing point of Catlin Street about ten metres further west to opposite the entrance to Stevenson Close. From a cyclist’s point of view, this had the disadvantage of taking one away from where there was a clear view of traffic turning into Catlin Street, thereby adding some risk to what had been a very safe crossing point.

Looking down a path that cuts the corner with Rotherhithe New Road. This was the old route of Caitlin Street before the acute junction was made into a safer right-angled one.

Old Southern Railway stables (2)
Nearly all of the former, extensive Bricklayers Arms goods depot has long since been redeveloped for houses. Only these stable buildings remain from the original railway site. As of 2015 they were still in light industrial use. Surprisingly they are not listed, giving them no protection against future redevelopment. See also Image

Apples & Pears pub (site of). Verney Way, Rotherhithe, London, SE16
The pub would have been about where the refuse bins now stand. Built about the late 1960's, the same time as the original Bonamy Estate. In the background can be seen part of the new Bonamy Estate. The first was built either side of Rotherhithe New Road, consequently half was in Bermondsey. Rotherhithe had :- Barkis : Boythorne : Egan : Joram : Meltham : Starklieigh : Willet and Witherfield - all 'Ways'. I do not know where any of the names came from but I do know that the existing estate have the dwellings in a 'Close' and not a 'Way'. Meltham has a golf course and all the new names are of golf courses. The estate was demolished early 1990's and I believe it suffered a great deal of 'concrete cancer'. The pub was totally without character and lasted the same time as the original estate.
