New Cross: Former public house
A sight all too common in London as elsewhere in the UK, is the former public house no longer in use as such. This one, at the junction of Barlborough Street and Monson Road, was the 'Duke of Albany'. (date of closure not known - to me, anyway).

Primary School, New Cross Gate
Facing the north end of Brocklehurst Street across Camplin Street is a commanding primary school, identifying itself as Haberdashers' Hatcham Primary, A Temple Grove School. Hatcham Park is a local street name, remembering a moated mansion where Egmont Street is now. Out of shot right is a London Bike Network fingerpost pointing right to Surrey Quays and Millwall F.C. Getting warm!

Hunsdon Road, New Cross Gate
On the left is the commanding frontage of Haberdashers' Hatcham Primary School. Red-and-white signs to the right proclaim 'New Road Layout Ahead'; 'No access to Sanford Street via Cold Blow Lane except authorised vehicles'. Cold Blow Lane will be on my route to follow the Overground.
