Shad Thames Pumping Station
Plans are afoot to upgrade the pumping station as part of the new Thames 'super' sewer. Not everyone is happy with the proposals, as this http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/7842 suggests. For a description of the building and its internal machinery see this http://www.glias.org.uk/glias/shad-thames-pumping-station.html.

13-15 Shad Thames
Despite late C20th depradations, the street retains a sense of its industrial past with many surviving warehouses, now mostly converted to flats. On the corner of Gainsford Street is Coriander Court. Further along (right) is Anise Warehouse, early-mid C19th. Grade II listed.

Tamarind Court, Maguire Street
Another of the area's exotically named warehouses conjuring up all sorts of romantic images, even if the building itself, probably early C20th, is fairly prosaic. Now flats.

Shad Thames
Looking northeast from the junction with Queen Elizabeth Street. On the right are St. Saviours and St. Andrews Wharves, both now converted to offices and apartments. St. Saviours Wharf takes its name from the dock behind the line of wharves. The Wharves originally housed imported tea, coffee and spices.
