The Oval: a view from The Shelf
A view from the two rows of seats known as The Shelf on the third tier of the Victorian pavilion, looking towards the scoreboard and the western side of the ground. The board shows Surrey at 102 for 5 on the first afternoon of a County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

Oval House, Harleyford Road
Built as a vicarage in 1794-95, much altered in the mid C19th. Tudor-Gothic porch. Grade II listed. According to the listing, it was the birthplace of Field Marshal Montgomery. For around fifty years it has been home to Ovalhouse, a theatre and "home to experimental, radical and overlooked artists".

I was here for a conference but as the door to the stand was open I couldn't resist some shots. The roof terrace was also accessible but a bit chilly.
