Heart of East Greenwich - first buildings going up
After a gap of several years in the recession, construction actually started in late 2012 on this plot (previously the site of the Greenwich District Hospital until 2006). Image By January, the first building could be seen rising above the hoardings.
NB for subsequent photos of the development, look for the new name (from March 2013) "Greenwich Square". e.g. Image

Greenwich Square under construction (1)
Since my previous photo three months earlier of this large construction site Image not only had this first block been structurally topped out, but the development had changed its name from "heart of East Greenwich" (geographically accurate) to Greenwich Square" (probably meant to be more aspirational, sounding as if it is in the town centre, not a mile away).

Shops on Woolwich Road
The style of these older buildings was matched by a new one immediately to the west Image
As of May 2015 the businesses (right to left) consisted of a funeral director, estate agent, convenience store, a new Italian restaurant, one vacant unit, cab hire service, kebab shop and dry cleaners. No doubt they would be hoping for business from the large new housing development at Greenwich Square across the road.
