Greenwich Regional Hospital half demolished
As the hospital was dismantled gradually the houses and shops were revealed on Trafalgar Road - and the industry beyond. The horizon is still dominated by Canary and Canada Wharves - and the Dome.

Greenwich Regional Hospital - gone
The last chimney came down with a thunderous bang- and clouds of dust. That was in mid June 2006. The site is still awaiting development, Feb 2007.

Site of Greenwich District Hospital
Greenwich District Hospital opened on this site in around 1970. In 2001, however, the hospital was closed, with its functions transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital a few miles away in Woolwich. The building was demolished in 2006. The site is due to be redeveloped, with 645 carbon-neutral homes along with a new library and a health centre.

Vanbrugh Hill, East Greenwich
A view northwards down Vanbrugh Hill. The blue hoardings surround the site of a hospital, which was closed in 2001 and demolished in 2006. The site is due to be redeveloped with new homes being built. In the distance, a gasworks can be seen along with the distinctive yellow spikes of the O2 entertainment centre, which was built as the Millennium Dome.
