Greenwich District Hospital opened on this site in around 1970. In 2001, however, the hospital was closed, with its functions transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital a few miles away in Woolwich. The building was demolished in 2006. The site is due to be redeveloped, with 645 carbon-neutral homes along with a new library and a health centre.
