Sheffield South Delivery Office
Sheffield South Delivery Office stands on the site of the Norton Hammer, where, since at least 1637 iron was smelted and forged. The Norton Hammer, and its two dams dominated this area, extending across the other side of Woodseats Road, and up to Ulverston Road. The site eventually became a grinding wheel for scythes and sickles. The site remained in use until the 1880's, but had been abandoned by 1891.
