Locations

Woodseats Police Station

Address:

Sheffield , S8 0SL

Priorities

5 Sep 2019

Anti Social Behaviour involving young people Sellars Street, Abbeydale.

Response (4 Dec 2020)

Dedicated Problem Solving Plan detailing patrols and partnership intervention work to improve the quality of life for residents in this area. Work is ongoing to address the geographic layout of the location including the fitting of a MOCAM .

This is an ongoing priority for the Sharrow team and the officer in the case is PCSO Sarah Hague.

04/12/19- this priority is currently subject of a review. There will be a surveuy completed in the New Year to capture residents thoughts and concerns with the aim that this priority should be closed as the number of calls being received from the location has reduced.

10/01/20- this has now been closed as a priority for the team due to the decrease in ASB and reporting of such in the area.

12 Sep 2019

Increase our engagement with our communities through the SYP Alerts system. Engagement with our communities is key to the success of our Neighbourhood and Force policing mission.

Response (12 Jan 2020)

We currently have an ongoing initiative on the Lansdowne estate in Sharrow where we have increased our subscriber numbers to SYP Alerts. This initiative is to move in to the Sellers Street area and to be replicated throughout our neighbourhood area.

For more information go to www.sypalerts.co.uk

20 Sep 2019

Increasing our face to face engagement with our different communities and promoting our accessibility further broadening our lines of communication.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

We will post in advance on the Police.uk website, Facebook (Sheffield South West NHP) and our monthly newsletters.

We have started this process.

110620- Due to Covid we have had to suspend a lot of our face to face Pop In Police stations. The on line meetings have continued. We have also continued to engage with the community and partners through online community meetings. We will resume our PIPs when it is safe to do so. Staff, including Inspector Fitzgibbons, continue to contribute to community papers and magazines such as Active8, Bradway Bugle and The Edge.

041219- we have increased the number of Pop in police stations that we are doing and have made sure that these are planned and notified in advance. This priority will remain until Feburary 2020 when a review will take place with the aim that this will have become every day business for the team.

5 Sep 2019

Tackle an increase in anti social behaviour around a location on Lupton Road, Lowedges near to Topham Road.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

A problem solving partnership working plan has been created for this location with the officer in the case as local PCSO Katie Gavin. Joint working alongside the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and local authority housing teams has been completed. This remains an ongoing action for the Gleadless and Lowedges team.
04/12/19- this priority remains in place as does the problem solving plan due to the number of calls being received from the location still.
110620- This problem solving plan has been closed due the decrease in calls to the location in relation to this issue.

The team will work with partners to reduce the vulnerability of residents in the Sharrow area, in particular in relation to drug dealing.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

A problem solving plan has been created. So far, 5 closure orders have been obtained which allows the resident and authorities such as the police to be present in the address. Any other visitors can be subject of arrest. Officers are completing regular enforcement visits at the address to check for persons who should not be present.
This continues to be a priority for the team- there is still a problem solving plan in place in relation to this.

We have had numerous reports relating to crime and ASB in the Sharrow area; particularly on the Lansdowne estate. Namely the use and supply of drugs linked to violent crime.

Response (8 Aug 2024)

Over the past 12 months, the Sharrow team have worked incredibly hard to target offenders and safeguard our vulnerable residents. We have been successful in obtaining warrants at several addresses and there are a number of ongoing investigations relating to drug supply. We are also gathering evidence for a number of Closure Orders.
The team are regularly on the estate and take proactive action to target the purchase and supply of drugs. Most recently, in July 2024 a proactive stop by the team resulted in the discovery and seizure of a viable firearm and lock knife. There have been a number of key arrests and we have seen violent crime decrease significantly in the area.
This work is ongoing. Please come and say hello when you see us on the Lansdowne estate!

Neighbourhood Crime, namely burglary, will always be a priority for the South West team.
In the last three months, we have seen a steady spike of 2 in 1 burglaries, predominantly concentrated in the Dore & Totley and Graves Park areas.

Response (8 Aug 2024)

In the last month burglary has reduced by over 80% in some areas of the South West.
We have had a number of key arrests and our detective colleagues are using forensics (including digital) to target offenders. Our PCSOs cocoon following every burglary, offering crime prevention advice to the victim and neighbouring properties. They also patrol on foot in hotspot areas.
We are trying to promote the use of crime prevention items, and we publicise this on our social media pages and in our monthly newsletter.
We regularly undertake plain clothed operations, focusing on known offenders addresses and any hotspot areas. Our colleagues in firearms and traffic have supported us with targeted tasking.
This work continues but we hope to see some positive prosecutions in the coming months as a result of ongoing investigations.

Neighbourhood Crime, namely burglary, will always be a priority for the South West team.
During the winter, we do experience an increase in neighbourhood crime, which includes burglaries, theft of vehicles and robberies. Criminals are looking to use the longer dark nights to slip away without being noticed, and are looking for easy opportunities.

Please be assured, we have dedicated operations to tackle this, including our dark nights operations and dedicated burglary operations in hotspot areas. Officers in Sheffield are also conducting extra, highly visible, patrols in areas which have seen a recent rise in burglaries.

Response (14 Nov 2024)

We arrested more than 30 suspects on suspicion of burglary in Sheffield during the month of October and our detective colleagues are using forensics (including digital) to target offenders. Our PCSOs cocoon following every burglary, offering crime prevention advice to the victim and neighbouring properties. They also patrol on foot in hotspot areas.
We are trying to promote the use of crime prevention items, and we publicise this on our social media pages and in our monthly newsletter.

This work continues but we hope to see some positive prosecutions in the coming months as a result of ongoing investigations.

You can also take some extra security steps to ensure you're less of a target to these criminals. We recommend getting into an 'exit routine' when you leave your home, following our simple and easy tips:

•Ensure all doors are locked, even if you are inside your home. Burglars will be looking for open doors as an easy opportunity to slip in
•Ensure any side gates or outer buildings, like sheds and garages, are locked and secure where possible
•Consider installing a home CCTV and monitor light system
•Install a burglar alarm, and set it when you leave your home
•Fit a steering wheel lock on your vehicles, even if they are parked on your driveway
•Ensure any spare car keys are stored in a safe place, away from your front door
•If you are planning on leaving your home to take a festive holiday, ask a neighbour or friend to check on your property and keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour

If you do see our officers about in your area, please don't be alarmed. They are there to keep you safe and listen to any concerns you may have.
