My name is Amy Mellor and I’m currently the Inspector for the fantastic Sheffield South West Neighbourhood Team. We cover a brilliant and very diverse part of the city and I’m am very excited about building relationships and tackling issues right across our patch.

So you know if you’re in the right place, we cover Dore, Totley, Nether Edge, Sharrow, Ecclesall, Gleadles Valley, Lowedges, Jordanthorpe, Beauchief, Greenhill and Graves Park.

I’m very lucky to have two great sergeants on the team, as well as a really proactive group of officers and PCSOs who are fully embedded in their communities.

We work in partnership with our Sheffield City Council colleagues and we also have a Safer Neighbourhood Co-ordinator working alongside the teams and embedded within our processes.

Please do contact us with any concerns, details about local community projects or groups, or simply to say hello. I'm really pleased to be working here in the South West.

Priorities

5 Sep 2019

Anti Social Behaviour involving young people Sellars Street, Abbeydale.

Response (4 Dec 2020)

Dedicated Problem Solving Plan detailing patrols and partnership intervention work to improve the quality of life for residents in this area. Work is ongoing to address the geographic layout of the location including the fitting of a MOCAM .

This is an ongoing priority for the Sharrow team and the officer in the case is PCSO Sarah Hague.

04/12/19- this priority is currently subject of a review. There will be a surveuy completed in the New Year to capture residents thoughts and concerns with the aim that this priority should be closed as the number of calls being received from the location has reduced.

10/01/20- this has now been closed as a priority for the team due to the decrease in ASB and reporting of such in the area.

12 Sep 2019

Increase our engagement with our communities through the SYP Alerts system. Engagement with our communities is key to the success of our Neighbourhood and Force policing mission.

Response (12 Jan 2020)

We currently have an ongoing initiative on the Lansdowne estate in Sharrow where we have increased our subscriber numbers to SYP Alerts. This initiative is to move in to the Sellers Street area and to be replicated throughout our neighbourhood area.

For more information go to www.sypalerts.co.uk

20 Sep 2019

Increasing our face to face engagement with our different communities and promoting our accessibility further broadening our lines of communication.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

We will post in advance on the Police.uk website, Facebook (Sheffield South West NHP) and our monthly newsletters.

We have started this process.

110620- Due to Covid we have had to suspend a lot of our face to face Pop In Police stations. The on line meetings have continued. We have also continued to engage with the community and partners through online community meetings. We will resume our PIPs when it is safe to do so. Staff, including Inspector Fitzgibbons, continue to contribute to community papers and magazines such as Active8, Bradway Bugle and The Edge.

041219- we have increased the number of Pop in police stations that we are doing and have made sure that these are planned and notified in advance. This priority will remain until Feburary 2020 when a review will take place with the aim that this will have become every day business for the team.

5 Sep 2019

Tackle an increase in anti social behaviour around a location on Lupton Road, Lowedges near to Topham Road.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

A problem solving partnership working plan has been created for this location with the officer in the case as local PCSO Katie Gavin. Joint working alongside the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and local authority housing teams has been completed. This remains an ongoing action for the Gleadless and Lowedges team.
04/12/19- this priority remains in place as does the problem solving plan due to the number of calls being received from the location still.
110620- This problem solving plan has been closed due the decrease in calls to the location in relation to this issue.

1 Oct 2019

The team will work with partners to reduce the vulnerability of residents in the Sharrow area, in particular in relation to drug dealing.

Response (11 Jun 2020)

A problem solving plan has been created. So far, 5 closure orders have been obtained which allows the resident and authorities such as the police to be present in the address. Any other visitors can be subject of arrest. Officers are completing regular enforcement visits at the address to check for persons who should not be present.
This continues to be a priority for the team- there is still a problem solving plan in place in relation to this.
