The site of Beauchief railway station
The station was built by the Midland Railway in 1870. The station was originally called Abbey Houses and later Beauchief & Abbey Dale station and finally Beauchief in 1914. It closed in 1961 shortly before this photograph was taken by Ben Brooksbank Image

Beauchief railway station (site), Sheffield
Opened in 1870 by the Midland Railway on the line from Derby to Sheffield (Midland), this station closed in 1961. View north east towards Millhouses & Ecclesall and Sheffield. The former outside tracks on both sides have been lifted. Out of view to the far left, the old station house was still standing when this image was taken.

View NE, towards Sheffield; London (St Pancras), Derby etc. - Sheffield etc. Midland Main Line. Station closed 2/1/61 - about three months earlier, hence still intact.

Abbey Lane, Sheffield's Outer ring road
At 4.30 on a weekday during the coronavirus lock down period.
Normally non-stop traffic, often queueing coming down this hill. Walkers taking full advantage of the peace and quiet.
