Archer's Hill Gate from outside the gardens
Built in 1744 by William Wentworth. According to the Wentworth Castle Garden Guide, the gate marks the point where the old public road left the estate and may commemorate Thomas Archer, the architect responsible for the construction of the Baroque front of the main house.

The recently renovated Stainborough Castle tower & gateway
Stainborough Castle was built by the 1st Earl of Strafford between 1727 and 1730 on the site of an iron age hill fort and on the highest point of the estate, over 180m/600ft above sea level. Ref: http://www.wentworthcastle.org/view.asp?id=219 This is an amazing restoration of this part of the grounds. The tower provides access to views across the surrounding countryside and the inner courtyard provides a quiet and tranquil place to sit.
