Archer's Hill Gate from outside the gardens

Built in 1744 by William Wentworth. According to the Wentworth Castle Garden Guide, the gate marks the point where the old public road left the estate and may commemorate Thomas Archer, the architect responsible for the construction of the Baroque front of the main house.
