Not a real castle, but a folly built to impress aristocratic visitors. It did at least put some of the owner's wealth back into the local economy.

Village Street Hood Green
To the north of the houses on the left the land drops away steeply to the valley below. This landscape feature has influenced the ribbon development along the main street of Hood Green.

Stumpery and fernery
In an old quarry, surrounded by an area known as The Wilderness, this part of Wentworth Castle grounds has been re-created in the manner beloved by Victorians.During the restoration in 2004, were found bizarrely shaped pieces of slag, probably from Sheffield steel forges, and some weathered stumps of yew.

Stainborough Castle
In 1727, Thomas Wentworth began to build a mock castle on the highest point of his estate. He called this Stainborough Castle, and on its completion in 1731 he renamed the house and estate as Wentworth Castle.
