Millhouses & Ecclesall railway station (site), Sheffield
Opened in 1870 by the Midland Railway on the line from Derby to Sheffield, this station closed in 1968. View north east towards Heeley and Sheffield. The left hand pair of tracks has been lifted. Out of view to the far left, the old station house was still standing when this image was taken.

Midland mainline at site of old Millhouses & Ecclesall railway station
Site of old station and railway locomotive depot. Now a Tesco's super store and several other units, two of the original tracks blocked. It's likely a third track will be squeezed through here, but restoring four will be difficult.

Rail revival restricted
Decades ago there were 4 tracks into Sheffield from the south west and there was a big engine shed at Millhouses. Today there are only two tracks and a large branch of Tesco's, a church meeting hall and a number of industrial units stand on the old track bed. Any attempt to improve rail access to Sheffield from this direction is now somewhat restricted.

Brexit Bonus, Sainsbury's, Archer Road, Sheffield
Sainsbury's are doing their best to make it look as though the shelves aren't empty, but crisps and other potato products have been especially badly hit by supply chain problems in 2021. Apparently, a lot of our crisps come from Ireland. Yes, really, we can't even get crisps from Ireland when we were promised that everything would be better after Brexit.
