Tintagel House
This Victorian mansion was originally built by one of Sheffield's industrial magnates but has been put to a variety of uses over the past half-century after the last private owner bequeathed the property to anthroposophical purposes. The house is managed by the Freeman College who work with young adults with autism and other related difficulties, while promoting the teachings of Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. It was Steiner himself who suggested to Arnold Freeman that the original name 'Meadow Bank House' be changed to the more community-friendly Tintagel House. A friend of mine was the acting housekeeper here at the time of posting, meanwhile the Merlin Theatre (situated behind the foliage to the right of shot) was closed for refurbishment.

Kenwood Hall Hotel
Kenwood Hall was built in 1845 as the home of George Wostenholme a wealthy Sheffield cutlery manufacturer. After his death his wife enlarged it and it continued as a private residence until 1922. It was then sold for £5,500 and converted to a hotel. Since then it has continued as a hotel under various owners.
