Rotherham Urban Fringe
Travelling north west as the crow flies it's less than a kilometre from the centre of Rotherham to the edge of open countryside. This photo was taken from the junction of Clough Road and Rodger Street which is overlooked by crop fields on Constitution Hill.

Rotherham Station
A pair of non-boilered class 31s numbers 31271+31240 depart Rotherham with the summer Saturdays only 09.10 Paignton - Newcastle train on 11/8/84. Both these loco's were vacuum braked only (vo) at the time. The S O Blackpool - Sheffield (on this day) was worked by 37246 a no-heat Tinsley machine.
