"The Corn Law Rhymer" in Rotherham
The unusual name of this pub recalls a half-forgotten poet of the early nineteenth century - Ebenezer Elliott (17 March 1781 – 1 December 1849). He was born in nearby Masbrough and in his time his often controversial poetry was known internationally. He was a true champion of the poor.

Manufactured in Rotherham by Saml. Walker & Co. Ltd. 1790 - 1820. The Walker factory was the largest industrial concern in Europe at the time and their cannon were a decisive factor in the defeat of Napoleon. This example was used as a mooring bollard for years after active service.
