Site of former Clowne & Barlborough station, 1983
View NW, towards Staveley and Chesterfield: ex-Midland Mansfield - Elmton & Cresswell - Staveley - Chesterfield line. Little trace of the station was left in 1983, because the local service had ceased from 5/7/54 and goods from 4/7/60, although Summer Seasonal trains ran until 18/8/62.

Former Clowne South station
View NE, towards Beighton and Sheffield (Victoria) (left), Langwith Junction, Shirebrook etc. right: ex-GC (Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast section), Beighton - Langwith branch. The line lost its passenger service (Mansfield LMS - Shirebrook North - Treeton - Sheffield LMS) from 10/9/39 and this was the booking-office. The station, which was very close to the ex-Midland station, was named Clown (no 'e') & Barlbrough, but on 18/6/51 it was renamed 'Clowne South' and the line remained open for excursions and diverted GC Main line trains as well as freight until 4/7/60.

Footpath to Manor Farm
Heathland situated on the north fringe of Clowne and pictured here from Hickinwood Lane. Manor Farm on the left of the picture probably stands on the site of the original manor mentioned in Domesday Book and the path here also leads to Harlesthorpe Dam. Situated out of sight to the left of the farm, this pond was used in the past for separating flax fibres in a process known as 'retting'.
