Old Milestone by the B6462, Church Street, Penistone
Carved stone post by the B6462, in parish of PENISTONE (BARNSLEY District), Church Street, Penistone, on North side of church, in churchyard wall, near lamppost 5 and base of big tree, on South side of road. Erected by the Huddersfield & Penistone turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-

Old milestone
This milestone is on the south side of the road on the one way system down Church Street in Penistone. It is under a large tree and must have been painted very many years ago judging by the remnants of white paint. It is similar to the old stone Image down the passageway in Wortley, but slightly wider. It is another stone for the benchmark enthusiasts.

Penistone Paramount Cinema
Unlike most towns of comparable size, Penistone has retained its cinema. Not only are films shown on a regular basis but the cinema has a Compton organ which is still put to good use.
