At Booth Wood. The date above the door is 1836 and the "W" symbol suggests that this house once belonged to the Earl of Wharncliffe's estate.

Water for pheasant rearing
We lost the path at this point and came across this pheasant rearing area in a clearing in Booth Wood. This cod-liver oil container had been recycled to provide a supply of water (presumably for the pheasants).

Our route becomes increasingly difficult to negotiate
The summer growth of nettles and brambles along this stretch of the Barnsley Boundary Walk impedes our progress and makes walking difficult. Obviously this is not a well trodden footpath this summer.
