Old new building in course of reconstruction near Green Moor
It looks as though the old stone property has been dismantled and is being rebuilt with the old materials, but will be to modern standards once complete.

Woodland path, Forge Rocher
A pleasant path to walk high above the River Don, but also a route that poses questions. The wall in the photo is made partly of normal sized sandstone blocks and partly of huge stones. There are a number of small cavities and possible tunnels by the path and also what appears to be a series of short inclines buttressed by more drystone walling down towards the river. A quarry, now filled in, was once behind the wall, so was material being taken down towards the river and the old forge site, and if so why? A search of old maps and various websites has revealed nothing.

Crossing the sheep field - view to Greenmoor
The River Don flows along the valley bottom. This is a rather foreshortened image because of the effect of the telephoto lens. The road across the valley goes to Green Moor and then drops down towards the Stocksbridge bypass.
