The leaning tree of Rosamond Drive
How this tree hasn't fallen mystifies all who drive by every day. It stretches almost entirely across the road with hardly any counterweight of branches going the other way.

Troublesome piles
Driven for 6 hours early on Sunday morning they're still not fully in. Nearby residents were also battered by the noise and vibrations. Work currently stopped after protests.

Site of planned new loop line
Network Rail's Hope Valley Capacity Improvement Scheme is supposed to include a new freight loop at this point, completion by the end of 2023. It has been delayed many times, the first announced specific date having been 2018.

Northern Class 195 below West View
On stopping service between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly.
Within the next 3 years a third track should be created here to allow freight trains loaded with cement from the Hope Valley to stand before or after taking the linking curve through short Dore Tunnel between Dore West and Dore South junctions. That provides a link to the Midland mainline through Bradway Tunnel towards Chesterfield and the south.

New Dore West Junction
Constructed over the Easter weekend 2023. The new Dore loop/chord to connect this with new track to Dore South Junction will be completed over the next 9 months. More excavation is still needed below Poynton Wood.

Soil nailing by West View Lane
As part of preparations to add a third track at this point to form a longer chord between Dore South and Dore West Junctions. This will create a new loop to allow freight trains in particular to wait clear of both through lines before moving from the Hope Valley line, here, onto the Midland mainline.

Street trees in Sheffield are under threat
But some are to be allowed to survive. These two seem to have found a grassy corner where they can avoid the chop, although a vehicle recently backed into the one on the right to give it some rough pruning.
