View from Poynton Wood
Across the 'railway triangle' towards Ecclesall Woods and beyond. The lines from Sheffield towards Manchester and London diverge here with a tight loop in between The block of recently built red brick flats rather dominates the otherwise natural landscape. The Dore railway curve is at the bottom of the shot as it tightly curves into short Dore Tunnel and round and uphill onto the Midland Mainline to pass through Bradway Tunnel towards Chesterfield and the south. Longest of the three tunnels in this corner of Sheffield is Totley Tunnel, to the left and behind this viewpoint.
