A pair of Giant Redwood trees in Whinfell Quarry Garden
These grade II listed, small, beautiful gardens are in an old flagstone quarry and are one of the city's best kept secrets. The garden was created in the 1900s so these huge trees are over 120 years old.

A Lost View - Whirlow Grange, Sheffield
A lost view of the former Sheffield Diocesan Conference Centre at Whirlow Grange in Sheffield, as seen in June 2004. The Conference Centre was set in mature gardens to the southwest of the city and used to host weddings, conferences and residential courses. Sadly, this rather charming building and it's beautiful gardens were later demolished to make way for housing.

Garden with stepping stones, Whinfell Quarry Garden, Whirlow, Sheffield
This appears to be part of the Little Quarry garden laid out by Clarence Elliott around 1915. The gardens occupy the sheltered, humid site of a former flagstone quarry, divided into Big Quarry & Little Quarry, that was acquired in 1897 by the steel manufacturer Samuel Doncaster, who developed it as gardens for the house he built above the former quarry. The quarry garden has belonged to Sheffield City Council since 1968. The big house subsequently burned down and was replaced by flats, but the gardens remain and are open to the public. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1001431
