It's Coming Home, Sheffield!
Taken early during the England vs Italy match at the final of the Euro 2020 football tournament (staged in 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic), this photo shows an empty main road in Sheffield with the expectant message "It's Coming Home, Sheffield." As the city which produced the world's first football clubs and codified the game, Sheffield can make a stronger claim than most to be the home of football. In the end, however it was not to be as Italy beat England on penalties.

Garage graffiti on Brincliffe Hill
This is not the first time that the rear of this garage with its little windows has attracted a graffiti artist. Seen here in mid-March snow.

Napoleon's Casino, Ecclesall Road
Signs of the times? The most prosperous looking building around is the casino. Next to it the Post Office delivery centre has queues of people collecting undelivered parcels - probably all those internet purchases before Christmas, the sales that are killing the trade of shops all around the developed world.
The next building is the funeral parlour, and then the dearest filling stations in western Sheffield, but on this day it was competitive. The site above that has been empty for many years, but a new development may be about to begin?
