Looking from Sorby Hall of Residence. The buildings in the foreground are part of the adjacent Earnshaw Hall; on the skyline, to the left of the building with the cranes, is the Hallam Towers hotel (later re-named Post House); whilst the lights of Sheffield city centre can be seen on the horizon, to the right of the photograph. Both Sorby and Earnshaw Halls have since been demolished; the site is now the Endcliffe Student Village.

Earnshaw Hall Of Residence (Endcliffe Student Village)
Earnshaw Hall of Residence was student accommodation for the University of Sheffield. The site on Endcliffe Crescent also included Sorby Hall, from where this photograph was taken. Both halls have since been demolished and the site is now Endcliffe Student Village.

The Edge
The Edge, opened a few years ago, contains facilities for the halls of residence at Sheffield University's Endcliffe Village, including a bar, laundrette and dining room. It doubles as a conference centre and was hosting the Digital Humanities Congress when this photograph was taken.
