The B174 crosses boundaries
Hog Hill Road becomes Romford Road as the London Borough of Havering ends and Redbridge starts. Evidently this is, or was, also the limit of the Metropolitan Police area, as a London Coal Tax post is on the left.

Boundary markers
At the Havering/Redbridge London Borough boundary are a coal tax post, placed along the former boundary of the Metropolitan Police area, and, overlooked at the time of the photograph, a small stone inscribed with something. This is presumably also marking the borough boundary. A study of OS large scale maps shows the actual boundary to pass at the mid-point between the two markers.
